Our First Port - Cabo San Lucas

We pulled into Cabo San Lucas and all we could see for as far as we could see was resorts!
We took a lot of tours from the ship - pricey but for a "first timer" helpful to see something besides the tourist traps.

"Tommy Tourist and His Wife!"

From the ship, all you can see are beach resorts!

. . . except for a Mexican Navy ship or two!

Our first stop on the tour was a resort with magnificent view of the bay and complimentary cerveza!

A nice multi-level patio . . .

. . .  with an inoperative waterfall fountain

But with a nice view of the beach and folks posing and sunning themselves

After a short drive, we arrived at a nearby town famous for Mission San Jose

As are most Missions, this one is still an operating Church

with a beautiful interior
and of course, Our Lady of Guadalupe

This frieze tells the story of the martyrdom of the founding priest

I think the old confessional is still used!

Stations of the Cross

The surrounding village was very pretty and filled with shops and fountains in courtyards

We were given some free time for a walkabout

We were escorted to a nearby craft studio

with some highly unusual artwork including beaded animals

and bizarre statues el morte

Heading back toward Cabo San Lucas, we were taken to a glass blowing facility

Where we witnessed the fabrication of two pieces of highly colored glass objects

Here the craftsman demonstrates that the cute glass turtle is still plenty hot to set paper on fire!

In addition to the items for sale (the turtle was something like $20), the shop was filled with beautiful glass decorations such as this "tunnel"

as well as this small chapel

and floor decorations

An interesting sculpture on the road back to the ship

Mike and Janet on "Fleet Landing"

where we catch the "tenders" back to the ship

The stage show that evening was a comedian who started slow but built his dry humor until almost everyone had tears rolling down their cheeks!

Tomorrow - Mazatlan, on the Mexican mainland.
