If I'm Dreaming, Don't Pinch Me, I Don't Want to Wake Up!

When we left North Island yesterday, we were a little apprehensive about what kind of quarters we'd get at the Naval Station. We'd been told they were going to be nice, but when you've been around things Navy long enough, you tend to become cynical!
Well, we needn't have worried! We were sent to Vesta Hall, Suite 1. We were amazed to find that was the Fleet Admiral Nimitz Suite! After we parked in the "Reserved for Resident of Admiral Nimitz Suite" space (with only a moderate amount of giggling) we went into the suite.
Edna, the housekeeper was just finishing up tidying the place. (We'd met Edna the previous week when we looked at some officer rooms over here.)
She had left us a "goody basket" of cookies, peanuts and the like just to welcome us!
Maybe we got this suite because we visited Nimitz' birthplace and the site of the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, TX a few weeks ago (scroll down to that if you wish) and Chet is just smiling down on us or maybe we just are really, really lucky.
We keep waiting for the Shore Patrol to take us away for impersonating a VIP.

As you enter the suite, you come into the living room. In the far right corner is one of the three flat screen HDTV's with DVD player in a nice entertainment center (each bedroom is equipped with its own HDTV setup, of course)
The two red chairs at the right are recliners and the couch is very comfortable (I'm typing from there right now). Suite is equipped with WiFi, so we can both "play computer" at same time. Pretty good link too - pretty quick on uploads.
The door in the opposite corner leads into a half bath that links to dining room as well.

That's right, I said dining room! Down a short hallway, is a gorgeous dining room.
Edna had the table laid out for a dinner party for four!
In the buffet behind is a set of silver-plate flatware for formal dining. But we just use the stainless for everyday :-)
Just outside the window is a shared patio (Vesta Hall is family transient quarters and has a number of mostly young married couples). If you turn right from where this photo is taken, is a small kitchen with two burner cook-top, small oven, mini-refrigerator, etc. It also has a Keurig single cup brewing station (which we also had at North Island). It brews a single cup in about 90 seconds and makes very good coffee!
Very nice! We could entertain with this setup!
To the left of the window is the stairway leading up to the bedrooms.

At the top of the stairs is the guest bedroom where you will stay if you visit. You have your own bathroom just to the right (you can see the hand towels on the rack). I love the little set of steps at the foot of the bed to help you get into the bed!
Theresa said she wasn't sure she could manage with only two bathrooms upstairs!

Just down a small hallway, is the Master Bedroom! This photo is taken from the doorway looking toward the flatscreen. We have since moved the wing back chair between the TV and the valet to open up the room a little more. To the left of the valet is our bathroom.

This photo is from the bathroom door. The door just to the right of the bed leads out to a landing on the main stairway and cannot be unlocked from outside. Not sure how much we will use that but it was handy for bringing the suitcases up and of course is needed as a second way out in case of fire.

We're off to noon mass at the Cathedral after which we will go to a Philippine Dance thing at the Joan Kroc (Ray Kroc of McDonald's fame's widow) Theater.
Hope you all have a fantastic Valentine's Day!
